I don't seem to get any of these 2 to work. When I try to start Star Wars: Empire at War with CureROM it says the following:
'Emulator detected!
Please deactivate virtual drive and emulation software.'
and if I start it with SR7Stop it says:
'A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed.'
They say that I should use CureROM so I'm quite sure I use CureROM the wrong way, so can someone make a short guide on how to use CureROM for me? I mount with Deamon Tools 4.

- A required security module cannot be activated. This program cannot be executed (8016). I have tried various compatibility modes, run as administrator, reduced resolution, 8 & 16 bit colour settings, but nothing has worked thus far.
- Help its not working mines saying A required security module cannot be activated. This program cannot be executed (8016). A skylake motherboard or processor may cause this. In this case, you should do a BIOS update your manufacturers.

- Dec 21, 2015 'A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed.' I've tried looking up patches and other posts about this but, most of them date back to 2005 with the EaW demo but, that's too far back to even apply. I also saw posts about the game not working on the Windows tech support site (I know that's not the name) but. Bought on origin.

posted 02-23-06 06:04 EST (US) 1 / 5 Hi RRose00. You get that message because the SecuROM copy protection for the game detects Virtual Drive software on your computer. Disable the software in Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) so it's not running on your computer and try again to start the game. Here's a list of software that might trigger SecuROM: Alcohol 120% BlindWrite Daemon Tools Game-Jack CloneCD Game Jackal Xoom Game Clone CDSpace Virtual CD Fantom CD Anti-Blaxx GetRight Virtual Drives Speaking Clock Nero ImageDrive If you don't have any of above software installed or disabling it doesn't work, while having the original Stronghold 2 CD/DVD in the drive reboot your computer, then right-click either the Stronghold 2 icon on the desktop or Stronghold2.exe and click Launch Analysis and a file named AnalysisLog.sr0 will be created and placed in C:. Zip the file (with WinZIP, 7-zip or a similar program) and send the file as an attachment to [email protected] By reading this fine print your soul is now the exclusive property of HeavenGames. |

posted 02-23-06 18:52 EST (US) 3 / 5 That depends on what filename the manufacturer of each program has choosen and that can be anything they like. You could write down the name of each file you see in Task Manager and then search your entire harddisk for them one at a time. Make sure you have configured Windows Explorer so you can see all hidden files and folders and the file extension of all known files. You do this in the Tools --> Foldersettings menu in Windows Explorer. After changing the settings click the Use on all folders button (or what its called), click OK, close Windows Explorer and open it again, then start searching for the files using the Search function. When finding a file on the harddisk, rightclick it and click properties and then look on the Version pane. If there's no Version pane search Google for the file.
